US FED: YELLEN TO DELIVER HH TESTIMONY JUNE 21, ABOUT FOUR WEEKS EARLY IFR
Newswire reports say Fed Chair Yellen will deliver the Monetary Policy Report to Congress starting June 21, less than a week after the conclusion of the June 15-16 FOMC meeting. Typically, this second semi-annual testimony comes in mid-July, thus Yellen's delivery later this month will be the earliest in the year since at least 2001 (see table). We wonder openly if she will use the occassion to justify a June rate hike, or prepare the wider public for a July rate hike. The FOMC meets for the fifth time this year on July 26-27. Current probabilities calculated from federal funds futures put odds of a June hike of 25 bps at just 22%, while odds of a July hike are 62%. #старуха
