Hi, my name is David Tran. I came to Kyrgyzstan last summer to volunteer at Inkubasia Lab and felt really invigorated by the spirit of entrepreneurship & drive for success. I want to continue to give back to the community by providing opportunities at ShopStorm, a software startup I started. Right now, I'm looking for a remote full time Full-stack web developer.
Requirements:
- A desire to build
- An attitude of both independently and cooperatively overcoming challenges
- An unending desire to learn new skills, frameworks, and tools
- A strong work ethic
- You generally understand computer science principles
- Strong written and verbal English
Preferences:
- Experience working remotely in a team setting
- Experience with Ruby on Rails and JavaScript
- Experience in web development beyond a basic CRUD application (ie: you’ve handled concurrency, queue processing, memory optimization, integrated multiple APIs, etc.)
- You've created beautiful websites before
- You have a habit of writing clean code
- You can write performant SQL queries
- You understand the different types of databases, and the trade-offs between them.
- You understand the locality principle of data storage and retrieval (ie: how and when to cache)
- You understand internet infrastructure (ie: how/when/where packets move)
- You have a good sense for products (ie: understand what people want)
You will:
- Expand existing products & develop new ones
- Brainstorm new developments
- Monitor production health
- Optimize hardware utilization
- Coordinate with our customer support team to fix bugs and build a better customer experience
You will receive
- Flexible holidays - take time off whenever you'd like
- Autonomy to manage your day to day schedule (no strict hours)
- Mentorship from myself, a software engineer working in Silicon Valley about anything I know (and many things that I have yet to learn)
- The opportunity to build cool products, gain technical breadth, and learn about how businesses work
- A monthly payment of $500 - 1200 USD for entry level developers (regular raises can be expected for high performing contributors)
- For senior I’d obviously pay more
I'm ideally looking for people who would enjoy a long term place of employment, but if you'd like referrals to other companies or guidance in starting your own, that's cool with me too.
To give a bit of background about myself: this is my first time running my own company and I look forward to a fun adventure in trying new things, learning to be a good employer, and building products that solve people's needs.
Although I'm looking for hardworking teammates, I'm generally flexible about how you want to spend your time. I believe in rewarding smart work and loyalty over total time spent in the office. If you're doing a good job, feel free to take plenty of holidays.
I enjoy learning as well as teaching. I am happy to share everything that I know (as well as learn new things so that I may have more knowledge to share) and look forward to a relationship where we can learn from each other.
As a person I value authenticity and transparency. You can expect me to always strive after such and would like the same from my team.
