NEWS: Kyoto Animation to merge with its subsidiary studio Animation Do on November 1, 2021
The studio posted an official confirmation on their website, and it means KyoAni will take over all of their subsidiary's rights and operations, including the staff which was already shared between the two.
The message also read that they will continue to work together as a team to deliver animations that nurture dreams, hopes, and excitement to people all over the world, and they asked for the fans' continued support and encouragement.
Hideaki Hatta was in charge of both companies, and Animation Do was mostly assisting with KyoAni's projects. An exception is the Free! series, which they mostly performed in-house with the help from Kyoto Animation.
There is a Free! movie coming up in 2021, as well as Kobayashi Season 2. Looking forward to more KyoAni
